Ormeau is a suburb of the city of Gold Coast, Queensland, and is located in the Hinterland. The word Ormeau is French for ‘young elm’ and used to be the name of the estate of Major A. J. Boyd. He was the owner of a sugar cane plantation in the 1860s which was called Ormeau House.

Ormeau lies towards the north of Gold Coast. It is around 41 kilometres away from Surfers Paradise. The distance from Brisbane is only a little more than that, at 49 kilometres. It has a number of schools in the suburb. Ormeau State Primary School, Norfolk Village State Primary School, and Livingstone Christian College are some of them.
