The first part of the name might have been from the names of early German settlers, Carl Wilhelm Bahr and his son. It might have also been a corruption of Jimmybark Scrub and the Bark Hill that can be found here.
The suburb used to be extremely peaceful but suburban development has begun and that might take away from the quietness of the acreage blocks. The suburb has around 1500 residents and their average age is about 32 years, which is around 5 years less than the Australian average.
