Norwell is a rural suburb of the city of Gold Coast, Queensland, with a small population of under 300. It comes under the state electorate of Coomera and federal division of Fadden. The other suburbs that surround it are Gilberton, Woongoolba, Steiglitz, Jacobs Well, Pimpana, and Ormeau.

Initially, in the late 1800s, areas that are now Jacobs Well, Norwell, Steiglitz, and Woongoolba were a single farming district. Together they were called Pimpana Island as the area became isolated during the wet weather.

This, however, made it ideal land for growing sugar canes. The name Norwell came from the name of the sugar cane plantation owned by William Pidd.
