Benowa is a suburb in the city of Gold Coast in Queensland. The name is a corruption of the Bundjalung word, boonow, which means bloodwood tree. The name stuck after Robert Muir gave his sugar cane plantation this name. The suburb is quite sought after because it is just 3 kilometres from Surfers Paradise.

Benowa is divided into three geographical parts. On the northern side of Ashmore Road is the established Benowa, and then there are Benowa Hills and Benowa Waters. Benowa State Primary School and Benowa State High School are the two schools in the area. Benowa State Primary School celebrated its 125th year in 2010.
