About Advancetown
Advancetown is a little suburb on the outskirts of the city of Gold Coast. This area was settled in the 1870s by timber-cutters. There was no dearth of good timber here, which eventually a saw mill set up here by David Yuan in 1881.
The suburb lies next to the Advancetown Lake and the Hinze dam which is responsible for providing water to most of the residents of Gold Coast. The dam itself is on the lake, while the Nerang River flows through it.
